Merrimac

has an immediate
opening for a full-time Technology Manager providing technical
expertise in the use and maintenance of security access
control, video surveillance, Local Area Network, video
teleconferencing, electronic monitoring, internet website and
associated systems in a juvenile detention center setting.
Requires ability to work a flexible schedule, 3-5 years
network administration experience minimum. MCSE preferred.
Ability to administer Microsoft Server, Exchange Server, SQL
Server, Citrix Server, routers
and firewalls a must. Knowledge of security video, DVR, and
HMI/
PLC
systems a plus.

MANAGER

NATURE
OF WORK:
Provides technical expertise in the use of security
access control, video surveillance, Local Area Network, video
teleconferencing, electronic monitoring, Internet Web Site and
associated systems. Requires
the ability to work a flexible work schedule.
ESSENTIAL
JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Manages
Systems operations. Servers,
Exchange Server, SQL Server, Citrix Server, DS Control
Point, Genex Multiplexer Server, Firewalls, Content Filter
Server, Routers, BCM400, GE Cimplicity HMI, Digital Video
Recorder’s, Control Panel, Database Management, Backup
Systems.
- Evaluates
and recommends products to support approved user
requirements.
- Evaluates
computer hardware and software, maintains LAN and other
network related technology, provides technical expertise
for performance and configuration of networks.
- Performs
LAN, Client/Server systems, and Video Teleconferencing (VTC)
administration.
- Provides
leadership in the integration and security of WAN
connections.
- Coordinates
the resolution of user and system-related problems.
- Ensures
proper relationships are established between customers,
teaming partners, and vendors to facilitate the delivery
of information system technology services.
- Optimizes
system operation and resource utilization, and performs
system capacity analysis and planning.
- Provides
assistance to users in accessing and using automated
systems.
- Maintains
Internet and Intranet Web Sites.
- Trains
end users in the application of computer software and
hardware.
- Gives
input into goals, projects, and budget planning
- Other
duties as assigned.
MINIMUM
ENTRY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Considerable
knowledge of security systems, digital recording systems,
video conferencing, routing, pbx systems, database
management, citrix access, and server systems hardware and
software.
- Specialized
experience includes protocol analysis.
- Specialized
experience also includes; supervising the operation and
maintenance of communication network systems, which are
client/server, based.
- Specialized
experience in developing and providing technical and end
user training on computer hardware and application
software (Citrix Clients, DS Control Point, TA100, Intuit,
MS Office, JCS/MAC, XP Pro, OS X).
- General
experience includes all aspects of communication networks
planning, installation, and support.
- Demonstrated
ability to communicate orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated
ability to work independently or under general direction.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum - 5 years of experience with IT systems, including
service desk and IT customer support - 3 years of experience
with security systems –BA/BS or equivalent experience
required, MCSE, and A+ certifications preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires an acceptable background check, must not be listed
with any state as having a founded child abuse or neglect
complaint, must refrain from use of illegal drugs both off and
on the job, must maintain a current Virginia driver’s
license, current tuberculin test, and all other certifications
and training required by policy and standards.

Examples are computer monitors, and other
technology parts, ladders and other equipment to make
technology maintenance repairs.
Counselor Positions
The Merrimac Center, a juvenile
detention center in Williamsburg, is currently accepting
applications for the positions of full-time and part-time
counselor. Positions involve direct care, supervision and
facilitation of group sessions with youth in a treatment
oriented environment. Shift work includes evenings,
weekends, and holidays. BA or AA in a related field and
experience working with teens preferred. Requires passing a
background check, drug screen, and post-offer physical.
